TDMARC is an industry-leading cybersecurity tool, designed to monitor three standard email authentication protocols- SPF, DKIM and DMARC, for complementing the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). It offers the Smart SPF feature to monitor and secure your email domains effortlessly.
When you secure your email domain with TDMARC, it provides you with a Smart SPF record that includes all your previously configured SPF records, if any. To use the Smart SPF feature, you are required to replace any of your domain’s previous SPF records with the provided Smart SPF record on the DNS.
Once you have updated the Smart SPF record on the DNS, you can use the Smart SPF feature to configure your domain’s SPF record as needed on the TDMARC dashboard without going through the trouble of changing it manually on the DNS.
How to Use Smart SPF?
To use the Smart SPF feature, follow the steps given below:
Step 1: Go to the TDMARC Dashboard -> click on SMART Controls -> select ‘Smart SPF’.
Step 2: From the drop-down menu, select the domain for which you wish to configure the SPF record.
If SMART SPF is enabled, you will see the following preview:

1. The SMART SPF feature offers several useful functions. Here are some of the key actions you can take:
Easily Add Records to Your Domain’s Existing SPF Record
To add a record, simply input the record you want to include, select the type of record from the drop-down menu, and click "Save."
For example, if you want to add the Google SPF record (include:_spf.google.com
), follow these steps:
Click the "Type" button.
Scroll down and select Include.
Paste the string _spf.google.com
and click the Save button.
It lets you change your SPF record mechanism with a single click. You can switch the mechanism between soft fail, fail and neutral. The mechanism you choose will determine whether the outbound mails that fail SPF authentication will be discarded, redirected to spam or delivered to the recipient’s inbox. Just select the mechanism of your choice and click on ‘Save’ to make the required changes.
You can also easily remove records from your domain’s existing SPF record as per your requirements. Just click on the delete icon in front of the record you wish to remove.
